Sights for Colt Combat

The Colt Combat takes its own sight fitment, covered below; it is a 1911-pattern Colt, sharing fitment with other Colts machined to the same cut. The Combat Elite / Combat Commander names cover Colt's compact-carry 1911s, built on the same Novak-cut slide as the full-size line.

A target-grade rear sight adds windage and elevation adjustment a factory fixed sight doesn't have, so zero can be tuned per load rather than accepted as a factory average - the difference that shows up in group size, not just first-shot placement.

Stocked as matched front-and-rear sets, individual rear sights, adjustable rear sights (windage). Illumination options include fiber optic, tritium, luminescent dots, white dots.

Fiber optic front sights gather ambient light along a thin rod and glow at the tip - fast to find in daylight, which is why most competition shooters run one on the front post. Tritium sights use a sealed, self-illuminating gas vial instead, holding a visible sight picture in the dark with no battery to charge.

For precision or target use, the fully adjustable rear matters more than the illumination choice - it is what actually lets you correct zero for a specific distance and load, with fiber optic simply making the front post easier to find in the process.
